Job Summary

 

Are you someone who enjoys analyzing data, identifying leads, contacting and building rapport with new clients? Consider joining the Metal Exchange family as a Sales Associate in our Primary Aluminum business unit, based in our St. Louis, Missouri headquarters.  This position offers the opportunity to learn sales, trading, and hedging in a professional sales environment.

 

The Sales Associate actively learns the business, working toward closing sales for primary aluminum products.   This results-oriented individual cultivates strong customer relationships and collaborates with the business unit manager to achieve sales targets and contribute to overall company success.  

 

The Sales Associate must have strong drive, curiosity and a desire to close sales.  The role requires a candidate that performs responsibilities with the highest degree of integrity and is motivated to deliver results in a highly competitive market segment.

The Sales Associate:

  • Works under the direction of Business Unit Manager to learn the aluminum business, trading/sales methodology, relationship building, and risk management.
  • Some travel may occur as the individual is introduced to business partners and customers.
  • Opportunities to learn the quote process and assist in negotiations. 

This is a growth and advancement opportunity to become a sales manager. The successful individual will develop and execute the following responsibilities:

  • Drives achievement of sales targets within the assigned market segment.
  • Supports the Business Unit's overall strategy by developing sales strategies, identifying and targeting new customers to capture market share and maximizes profit margins.
  • Executes sales activities, including cold calls, customer calls, site visits, sales proposals, presentations, and industry event attendance.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key clients.
  • Analyzes market trends and competitor activity within the assigned territory to refine sales strategies.
  • Commits to increasing top line revenue through sales growth.
  • Understands and applies sound risk management practices to provide customers with a variety of pricing options, while mitigating the associated terminal market and premium exposure, in consultation with our risk management team.
  • Collaborates with the procurement & supply chain teams to request quotes, place purchase orders, and track order status.
  • Provides detailed account of call reports, contact information and quote opportunities to support sales & marketing programs.
  • Prepares customer sales forecasts and assist in budget planning and growth initiatives.
  • Utilizes company CRM to track sales activities, market intelligence and opportunities.
  • Maintains comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Negotiates contracts and close deals. Enter sales contracts into company trading system, ensuring compliance, and will communicate contract details to customers in timely manner.
  • Collaborates with logistics team to consistently foster customer satisfaction as the face of Metal Exchange.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have

Education     

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree or certifications in sales or business management preferred.

Experience   

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a sales or financial services office environment.
  • Experience in an internship or training program will be considered.

Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Sales Associate will travel periodically. With advancement opportunity to sales manager position, travel up to 25-50% as required to meet customer demands and build the business.
  • Strong drive, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop effective sales strategies.
  • Balance and manage multiple business development efforts.
  • Ability to develop sales skills and customer resource management.
  • Ability to develop strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Acts with the highest level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Strong ability to analyze data to solve problems, understand technical issues and make effective decisions.
  • Enjoys customer interaction including telephone, video, and person to person meetings.
  • Self-motivated and aggressive in pursuing and achieving objectives.
  • Able to become proficient in CRM software (e.g., HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience in the MS Office Suite is required: exposure to Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel is needed.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
