Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Die Corrector Apprentice in our Wellsville, PA location. The Die Corrector Apprentice is an entry-level position that learns the manufacturing process of the die casting machines from the Die Corrector team including; setting up, operating, and maintaining the equipment necessary for the casting process.  

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Under the guidance of the Die Corrector team, assist and learn the following duties: 

  • Machine Setup: Prepare and set up die casting machines by installing molds, adjusting settings, and ensuring proper alignment of components. 
  • Material Preparation: Load the machine with the appropriate metal alloys, ensuring accurate measurements and adherence to specifications. 
  • Machine Operation: Operate die casting machines to produce metal components according to provided blueprints, technical drawings, or work instructions. Monitor the casting process to maintain consistent quality and make adjustments as needed. 
  • Quality Control: Inspect castings for defects, such as cracks, air bubbles, or incomplete fillings, using tools such as gauges, micrometers, or X-ray machines. Identify and troubleshoot issues during the casting process to ensure adherence to quality standards. 
  • Mold Maintenance: Clean, lubricate, and maintain molds regularly to ensure their longevity and optimize production efficiency. Replace worn-out or damaged components as necessary. 
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or equipment malfunctions. 
  • Documentation: Keep detailed records of production output, material usage, machine settings, and any issues encountered during the casting process. Report production data to supervisors or management as required. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and provide suggestions to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production output. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.  
  • Additional technical or vocational training in metal casting, machine operation, or related fields is preferred. 
  • Previous experience in a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Regular attendance required.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.  
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and explosives.  
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.  
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
