Overview

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Sustainability Engineer to join our team and help drive sustainable practices across our aluminum production and metals trading processes. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, industry knowledge, and a passion for environmental responsibility to support our goals in reducing carbon emissions, improving resource efficiency, and meeting regulatory and stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the certification process for our Sustainability system per the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Production Standard.
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption, water usage, and greenhouse gas emissions in aluminum smelting, refining, and recycling operations.
  • Conduct life cycle assessments (LCA) and carbon footprint analyses to identify improvement opportunities in the supply chain and production processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to integrate sustainable materials and technologies.
  • Monitor and analyze environmental metrics (e.g., waste generation, energy usage, emissions) and report progress against KPIs.
  • Support compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, ISO 14001) and contribute to ESG reporting and certifications.
  • Evaluate and implement clean energy and circular economy strategies, including scrap recovery and closed-loop recycling systems.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies to help maintain a leadership position in sustainability.
  • Be able to analyze and develop Product Carbon Footprints, Environmental Product Declarations, CBAM requests, and other processes requested by key stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external reports, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders, investors, and regulatory bodies.

 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Sustainability Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Familiarity with tools and standards such as GHG Protocol, ISO 14040/44, LEED, CDP, or Science-Based Targets.
  • Experience with data analysis, environmental modeling tools, and sustainability software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with carbon offset projects or renewable energy procurement.
  • Knowledge of supply chain sustainability and sustainable procurement practices.
  • Project management certification or experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
